Children’s Face Masks – a review on popular face masks
Face masks are a hot conversation topic among many parents these days. The continued question is what mask should I get for my child? The TDSB Health and Safety regulations indicate that “[a]ll students will be required to wear a face mask or reusable cloth masks…”. In anticipation of this, we went ahead and put together a review of the masks that we have tried and different things to consider prior to purchasing.
Peace Collective
Pros: reusable, machine wash, multi-layered 100% cotton masks
Cons: one size (4” by 6”) – reviews say they fit small, final sale
Envy Copper-Infused Face Mask
Pros: 2-sizes, uses anti-microbial Copper fabric, breathable mask, soft ear loops, good for sensitive skin, adjustable nose wire
Cons: suitable for >6 years (based on sizing), pricey
Lug
Pros: reusable, machine wash, adjustable ear loop straps
Cons: one size (8” by 6”), final sale

Cons: one size – reviews say it fits large
If your child is having trouble understanding the reason why they must wear a mask, try explaining to them the reasons rather than saying “just wear it because I said so”. “I think if you explain to them and they understand the reason behind this practice, I think they’ll be more likely to keep the mask on and I think if everybody has a mask on at school, the likelihood of having a dramatic increased will be quite low”, says Dr. Emma Bartfay, PhD in Epidemiology.
